An awesome opportunity to give back to the community (and also earn a little extra cash) has come up and we wanted to share it with you.
The "GOAL Detroit 2016 Spring Soccer League" is looking for volunteer coaches to coach elementary school soccer leagues for Detroit students. This program is run through Detroit PAL and the Detroit Mayor's office.
There are 70 teams registered but they are in need of at least 12 more coaches.
This is a great opportunity to teach the great game that we all know and love to the youth that may not have exposure to the sport or have never played and want to learn how.
Our Annual General Meeting will take place on January 24, 2016 from 1pm-3pm at Schoolcraft College room LA200.
This meeting is an open forum for all players, and a team representative from each team is required to attend.
New or interested players are welcome to attend as well!
The GLWSL is looking for team managers to support our growing player base. We have an influx of players from all over metro-Detroit at varying skill levels that need teams to play on. There is no experience necessary to be a team manager, it has little time commitment and we can offer you a co-manager to help you through the process.
The GLWSL is run on a volunteer basis and team managers are a necessity in ensuring there is ample competition for everyone.
If you are interested in helping and becoming a team manager, please contact NicoleGLWSL@gmail.com
This year's AGM meeting will be on January 11, 2015 at 1pm at Schoolcraft College, Room LA 200. A manager from each team is required to attend, and all players are welcome to attend to listen in as well.
A draft agenda includes topics such as:
-Reviewing / approving 2015 by-laws changes
-Open referee discusion
-Election of board members
Attention all team managers:
REMINDER! The team registration deadline is Saturday March 1, 2014. You must turn in your registration form (which can be found in your manager binder you recieved at the AGM) and money by this time. If you feel as if you cannot meet this deadline for any reason but are still working on putting together a team, please be sure to contact Ellen Ely at firstname.lastname@example.org as soon as possible.
